Flying Gown on the Savannah Marsh

A person in a flowing, flying gown stands in a grassy field at sunset, wearing a decorative headpiece with branches. The scene evokes the serene beauty of a Savannah marsh as the twilight casts warm hues all around.

Jinhi my sister in law has had many sessions with me throughout the years. It’s the gift I love to give her as my family. JinHi is going through cancer treatment right now, but not for the first time, and wanted to capture this particular moment in her life. I wanted to help her show off her strength and endurance, and give her an experience to look forward to. JinHi only had 1 leg from a childhood cancer, so as you can imagine for her flying gown session, there were a few tumbles. During the photo shoot I asked her “Are you ok?” And she responded “I’m ok if you’re ok”. We decided she would fall if she fell, and we would capture what we could before the marsh bugs ate us to death.

I love how these photos came out. There is something very ethereal about the white flying gown, and if you’ve followed me or Savannah Glamour for any length of time you know I love photographing women at last light on the marsh!
