Upon discovering Savannah Glamour, a lot of women are very excited to book their own glamorous portrait experience, but they just aren’t sure which type of shoot is for them. I would love to help you discover which portrait experience is the right one for you! Read on to learn the differences between glamour shots, pinup photography, and boudoir photography!
Glamour Photography: Glamour photography has come a long way since the 1980’s. Then the style was decidedly cheesy. Now glamour is about creating the best portraits of yourself you’ve ever had taken. We will indulge in professional hair and makeup, and then raid the glamour closet for incredible gowns, shoes and jewelry. These portraits are more celebratory than private. You don’t have to be a girly girl to enjoy this experience, and if running around downtown Savannah in one of the fanciest gowns you’ve ever worn is your idea of a good time, then this is definitely the experience for you.
Pinup Photography: Pinup is a fun, playful type of photography with its style firmly rooted in a vintage era. This type of photography is distinct and colorful in approach, with iconic poses of the time. Just like with glamour shots, we raid the closet for knee length dresses that have fun patterns and tend to synch at the waist. If you feel like you’ve been born in the wrong era and would like images of yourself with victory rolls and fun poses, this is the experience for you!
Boudoir Photography: Probably the most intimate option of the three. This session takes place in the Savannah Glamour studio and celebrates you in a completely different, more revealing way. This session strives to capture those fleeting, secret moments that only you or a lover would typically ever see. Boudoir photography is mostly contemporary in feel with a heavy emphasis on lingerie and personal details – exactly what kind of lingerie or details are totally up to you! There’s a wide range of color versus black and white, light and airy vs. dark and dramatic – the choice of each is as individual as the woman being photographed. Implied nudity is also more prevalent here and whether or not you choose that is entirely up to you as well. Of course, a lot of people choose to do a pinup/glamour plus boudoir package to get the best of both worlds and this is definitely the perfect way to make sure you get your money’s worth.
This portrait experience should be fun—not leave you feeling uncertain or having to do a bunch of extra work. So, for all you ladies who are scared to step in front of the camera, know that you will be given help and instructions along every step of the way of how to pose, what to wear, and how to make it all happen! One of the biggest uncertainties I get asked about is, which type of shoot should I book? So here is a quick primer on the different types of photoshoot and which one might be right for you. Chances are, you fit into more than one category!
And if you still can’t choose between the three, we even have an experience for that!
